The short version
Kidchatter is built for children, so it is built to hold as little about them as it can. Your child’s voice is never recorded or saved. The conversation happens live and disappears. What stays behind is a short record of the practice itself: which question they answered, how many seconds they spoke, and when.
There is no advertising here, no tracking pixels, and nothing is sold or shared with anyone for marketing. A parent can read everything stored about their child and delete all of it at any time.
Who runs this
Kidchatter is run by the individual operator reachable at hello@kidchatter.com. That address is the right one for any question in this policy, including a request to see or delete your child’s information.
What is collected
From the parent:
- Your email address, so the daily report can reach you and so we can contact you about the service.
- Your name and your child's first name, recorded when you agree to this policy, along with the date you agreed.
From the child’s practice:
- For each talk: the title of the question, how long the session ran, how many seconds your child actually spoke, and the date and time.
- If the fractions tutor is switched on: how many exchanges took place, an internal score for each skill, and one plain-English sentence per exchange describing how it went.
That is the whole list. Nothing else about your child is collected, and nothing beyond this is needed to use the service.
What is never collected
- Audio. Your child’s voice is streamed live to the voice provider so the conversation can happen, and Kidchatter writes none of it to disk. There is no recording to play back, download or leak.
- Transcripts. What your child said in a talk is not stored, and is not in the report you receive.
- Your child's surname, address, birthday, photograph, school, or location.
- Any contact details for your child. All contact goes through you.
- Advertising identifiers, behavioural tracking, or third-party analytics.
How it is used
Only to run the thing you signed up for: to pick tomorrow’s question, to count the day’s practice, to let the tutor skip a skill your child has already shown, and to send you the daily report. It is not used to build a profile, to train anyone’s model, or to market anything to your child.
Who else sees it
Four companies handle data on Kidchatter’s behalf in order to make it work. None of them is given your child’s name, and none of them is paid to advertise to you.
- xAI receives the live audio of a talk so its voice model can hold the conversation (their privacy policy).
- Anthropic receives the typed messages of a fractions session so its model can reply (their privacy policy).
- Resend delivers the daily report to your email address (their privacy policy).
- Railway hosts the application and the disk the records sit on (their privacy policy).
How long it is kept
The practice records stay until you delete them, because the point of them is to show progress over time. Everything goes the moment you ask. If you stop using Kidchatter and tell us, the records are deleted.
Your rights as a parent
You can, at any time and without giving a reason:
- See everything stored about your child, on the parent settings page.
- Delete all of it, with one button on that same page.
- Withdraw your agreement, which stops your child signing in and stops any further collection.
- Refuse to let us collect anything further while keeping what is already there.
The settings page sits behind a code only you have. If you would rather we did any of this for you, email hello@kidchatter.com.
Children
Kidchatter is meant for children, and a child cannot sign themselves up. A parent or guardian agrees to this policy first, and nothing is collected from a child before that happens — if no parent has agreed, the child’s sign-in simply does not work.
Your child is never asked for more than the service needs, and nothing here is conditional on handing over information that is not required to practise.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, your previous agreement stops counting and you are asked again before your child can carry on. That is why this page carries a date.
